Details of the Workshops:

Wall E : The Workshop on Basic Autonomous Robots

What?

A 3 day Workshop on Basic Autonomous Robotics, covering the following topics:

  • Basic Robotics
  • Actuators : Motors, Pneumatics etc.
  • Steering Mechanisms
  • Motor Driving Circuits
  • Microcontrollers
  • Circuit Design
  • Embedded Coding
  • Practical exposure to constructing a Line Following Robot running on a Microcontroller

All participants shall work in groups of a maximum of 3 people and shall receive a take home kit consisting of a Line Following Robot. The kit will consist of a general purpose development board which can be expanded and modified to make other similar Autonomous Robots.

Who?

Any member from the SRA with previous knowledge of coding in C/C++ and a basic idea of electronics and logic circuits, which can be obtained from presentations we can provide on request. The members can also approach the core group members to learn about the same before the date of the workshop.

How much?
Rs. 1900 for a group of 3 people. This covers the cost of a Take Home Pre Soldered Development Board for the Atmega 16 along with motor drivers, 2 motors, USB Programmer and the line sensor array.

Participants are requested to bring along their own power supplies and multimeters, as these shall not be provided.

We recommend variable power supplies providing 9 Volts DC OR a battery pack (Ni Cd or Li Ion) giving anything above 9 V.

How Many?

Maximum Number Of Groups is 20.Entry is selective based on your answers in the form.

Aquila - The Workshop on Hand Launched Gliders

What is it?

A 3 day Workshop on Basic Aeronautics and Hand Launched Gliders (HLG), covering the following topics:

  • Basic Aeronautics, Wing and airfoil geometry.
  • Forces in flight.
  • Stall.
  • Airfoil simulator.
  • Control surfaces.
  • Flight Trimming.
  • Design of a simple non-powered glider.
  • Construction of a chuck glider and an HLG.

All participants shall work in groups of a maximum of 3 people and shall receive a take home kit consisting of a 3 foot span Hand Launched Glider (HLG) .The kit will consist of a HLG whose surfaces can be adjusted to induce various flight patterns. It can also be converted into a powered, controlled glider by certain additions if required and can be flown indoors as well as outdoors.

A HLG is a non-powered glider launched by hand and its flight path can be controlled before the launch itself. It is more responsive to lift and sink helping you to understand the factors affecting lift better. Although its flights are comparatively short, it helps you learn from every launch and teaches you where and how not to fly and how to design a better aircraft.

Who?

Any SRA member who has a basic idea of pressure, forces, moments and fluid properties can attend. Information on these can be obtained from presentations we can provide on request. The members can also approach the senate members to learn about the same before the date of the workshop.

How Much?

Rs.900 for a group of 3 people. This covers the cost of a Take Home Balsa HLG and all parts associated with the construction.

How Many?

Maximum Number of Groups is 16.
